Adriana Adelé's Fundraiser for Girls Who S.L.A.Y (Self Love And Yoga) / by Joanna Nowak

Yoga

I started practicing yoga in Philadelphia about two years ago. I had taken a long break after leaving my NY yoga studio home and moving back to PA (and sustaining a mind-opening shoulder injury). I came back to the mat to find myself and find balance - still searching for both :) - but what I did find, was an incredible community and a new family. In just two years, I fell in love with Three Queens Yoga, began working for Mariel Freeman and the studio in various capacities, made lifelong friends and completed a 200-hour RYT training program. I also had the immense joy of meeting, learning from and getting to know the talented philanthropist and yoga teacher, Adriana Adelé

Namaslay + Girls Who S.L.A.Y

Namaslay, created by Adriana, is a sweat-inducing, 90-minute yoga practice that features her favorite hip-hop and R&B artists from the nineties to now. Adriana is warm and approachable, yet deserving of a throne, no doubt, and her personality shines as she moves you through an alignment-based flow with pauses to sing lyrics, shake your booty, and tap into your inner diva. This summer's killer Namaslay (thanks, Drake) donated proceeds to Girls Who S.L.A.Y (Self Love and Yoga), a summer camp created by Adriana, in partnership with Roots 2 Rise, for young girls whose access to yoga is limited.

Community

Along with several brands and organizations (Three Queens Yoga, Roots2Rise, honeygrow, sweetgreen, Athleta, The Pure Bag), I came to help out with the event. It was a blast assisting Adriana's class and intermittently taking some photos of the practice and after-party. Have a peek- and please contact me if you'd like to post any of these images on your social media!
